"This time, I think he might be overcompensating," creator Andrew W. Marlowe says with a laugh. "Castle's trying to outdo himself, and of course Castle's best-laid plans go awry." But don't expect Castle and Beckett to have all the V-Day fun. "If [Esposito] has plans, he's keeping them very secretive," Jon Huertas teases. "Castle's investigating Javier's plans and constantly nagging him about... who he's hanging out with. [He's] trying to see if my plans are not as good as his, not as romantic."

ReplyDeleteYeah I doubt we will get a kiss or anything remotely close...lol. Its castle ,the place where they kiss in darkness like grandparents pecking and are hell bent on not giving us more. So just enjoy the episode for the case, and DONT expect anything more.

ReplyDeleteThere definitely will be a kiss. The last three eps weren't exactly shipper episodes but this is Castle and Beckett's first Valentine's Day, you don't need to be a genius to figure that they're going to throw in a kiss.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea whether I'm in the majority or minority here but I think spoilers should be reserved for the A-List stuff, I've read just as many spoilers this season regarding Esposito and Lanie's relationship as I have about Castle & Beckett's. I really couldn't care less, to be honest. Castle and Beckett's relationship is why I found this show appealing, it's what I want to read about when spoilers are released, what Esposito and/or Lanie are up to is of no interest to me. They need to stop diverting the topic of conversation from C&B to E&L when responding to spoiler questions, especially now that the former are in relationship.
Well that's very nice for you but keep in mind that this show has a very far-reaching fan base. there are a lot of people to cater for hence why the show still has a case each week and why its "caskett" displays of affection are not on the HBO channel. My 91yr old grandmother watches this every week without fail and I just can't imagine her watching True Blood. Anyway my point is that I enjoy Esplanie very much. I think Tamala is awesome at how she portays her very little screen time as Lanie, I hope her and Espo do sort it out. How about Kevin and Jenny; I think its cute they are trying for a baby and Ryan has to rush home cos shes ovulating. This has the potential to bring a lot of humour (it reminds me of the vegie juice gag they were doing before the wedding with Espo and the donuts) Obviously Caskett is the more "important" relationship out of the three but just because you 'couldn't care less' about it doesn't mean that there aren't fans out there who do care. Let Castle cater to ALL of its fans.

Am I being sarcastic...yes of course. But Ive given up hoping for something we will never get. We wanted caskett together, so Marlowe gave us that, but it came with a price...we dont get to see anything that happens between them.
So the sooner we can all accept that, the easier it will be to watch. I love the show but Id be lying if I said I still watched every epsiode. I wanted to see Caskett in a relationhsip not imagine it. So yes its lost its appeal for me. Next ep seems fun, but Im not expecting anything to happen. He will fumble through the ep with the gift and finally give it to her, she will smile, he will smile, and they will walk into the elevator,and fade to black. And then we are suppose to imagine on our own that they kissed and had a great romantic night together...
Anon 4.02, Im surprised you are confident. Theres no reason for them to put it in. They dont need to. The writers and Marlowe know that even without caskett love, fans still watch, so they arent losing anything. Besides even if they do kiss, it will be dark so we wont see it...lol

We wont get a kiss, maybe at most, a loving look, gazing into each others eyes, maybe a handshake becasue he will give her the present in the precint...nothing less nothing more.

Not sex scenes necessarily, not kissing every 5 minutes, just them being a regular couple. I mean is that so bad to hope and wish for? I expected so much more for caskett, and yes anon 5.03, wiht the possibility that caskett will break up just seems pointless to remain invested dont you think. I watch primarily for caskett so im losing interest becasue caskett is portrayed like an old couple now. Im porbably in the minority group that thinks this, so Im glad the others are enjoying caskett, for me, i lost interest when I realized that we have to be happy with kisses in the dark becasue thast all we will get. I want to see them doing things not assume. But thats just the way it is I guess.
ReplyDeleteIt's making me sad that I can't get too excited about these eps and Caskett's relationship, because their getting together is what I've been waiting for. But with that blind item possibly being them, it'll hurt enough to stop watching because I don't have the heart to see them separated after barely a year of them being together after having waited four years. I have no interest whatsoever in watching them broken up and the show back to its old routine of having them with other people. So I'm kind of numb to everything, when I really wanted to enjoy Caskett. I love them and the show.

SV, hi! LOL Well, it sure is better than being bitter about it and it takes the sadness of all of it away, we might as well laugh about it. LOL I love Caskett so much, Stana and Nathan have chemistry up the wazoo and we're not the ones giving the show a problem by being bored watching Caskett be together, the writers are the ones who are scared of showing the passion - simple as that passion can be because it doesn't have to be porn - onscreen. I have no idea why, when they should be taking advantage of that chemistry.

ReplyDeleteI think what we are all trying to say is NOT 'sex' but intimacy and passion between Caskett, after 4 years of 'foreply' and hype about couple you'd think they would include that in each epi - NOT the focus, but just affection. As if now they are together they are afraid to show it onscreen. No, I don't see them as a romantic couple anymore, won't vote for them as a romantic couple, etc. but I still do watch the show I won't abandon it for that but my enthusiasm for Caskett has faded.

DeleteI think there's some clothing-related thing for "S." Like, I think Kill Shot had it because of the image with Beckett and her scar, so it could just mean a less-clothed victim or something. Doesn't take much to get an S since Castle is PG, which means 6 year-old safe.
DeleteAgreed with everyone who doesn't think the ep will be all that romantic. I'm also confused why the writers are having Caskett fizzle out. I thought AWM said he learned from "moonlighting" not to break them up right away--doesn't that also imply other ways of breaking them up, like having them be together but not really be together-together? I also have lowered my expectations and stopped caring as much. Easier to go sneak-peak free now than it was at the beginning of the season!
Yeah; some fans have passed the deceived phase, then the angry phase and they now are looking things with irony.
ReplyDeleteI will continue to watch this show because I love it but I understand why some fans are frustrated; all the fans who think that Castle is, first, a love story before a police one, who have waited for 4 years for a dating, and once they had it, nothing happened..
I mean that, even myself, I thought that "After the storm" was a beautiful beginning for that season and I thought that i would see more than looks: acts, situations, kinky things, some dinner at home as for seasons before: Castle came back home to his mother & daughter. This season is not so funny, finally.
There's gonna be the 14th ep, which means 2/3 of the season. If we just see a short kiss in the dark stopped by anything, some guys gonna leave the show.
I realize those 2 have been dating for 6, 7 months and they don't show us very much about their love...they sometimes seem like an old couple!!
So, I'm pretty sure that the next eps are really gonna be good but I think of those who thought that the show was named "Caskett" and not "Castle"..

You'd think that the writers could challenge themselves by being as romantic as possible without having a sex scene or kissing. That would frustrate fans/keep them coming back but also be more satisfying as a continued story of them being together (I think it's less the lack of romance and more the lack of continuity that bothers me about the fade-out of the C&B relationship--their relationship is one of the major story arcs that go through episodes so to drop that or to have it be hot/cold weirdly between eps strikes me as odd continuity-wise). I mean, how many people wanted them to wake up in the middle of the night and yell out to each other at the same time "I know who the killer is!" They just don't show them together outside of the precinct hardly at all--you'd think they could move the show more into their apartments and thus have romance without actually having sex scenes.
DeleteMaybe it's in N&S's contracts that they don't want to be all over each other on screen. It's gotta be awkward to have all these sex/make-out scenes with your co-worker. I'm glad that's not part of my job!! Still, you'd think the writers could do more even with this constraint.

DeleteI see a lot of dry sarcasm on here. For what it's worth, I feel I can understand why the writers have taken this path so far this season, in reference to seemingly not showing enough Caskett. Instead of physically showing the two characters munching each other's faces off, they've often left a lot of suggestive comments for fans to use their imaginations to figure out what's been happening between the characters away from the screen, to go with the odd moment of physical contact they do show (usually in the dark). I can understand why people are frustrated by this and make continual references to this couple acting like they've been married for 50 years rather than having just gotten together. It seems to me like the writers are mindful of not giving the fans too much of a good thing too early, as they fear that eventually that will not be enough to satisfy certain groups of fans who will demand more, eventually leading to a point where the demand is too much for the writers to meet. For me I'm not bothered by any supposed lack of intimacy between the two characters. I like the fact the two characters are together, but I watch this show for the other things that make it good as well. The writers have done a fantastic job, although they're never going to please everyone. Seeing so many negative comments can be misleading. The negative comments don't always paint a true picture of what people are thinking. The people who have issues with the show are the ones who voice their opinions the loudest, while those who are content or happy tend to not voice their opinions, hence why the constant negativity is not always a true reflection of what fans are really thinking.

DeleteAnd don't assume that those who don't voice out their complaints are all happy with what is going on. For all you know they are already in the apathy (we don't care) phase.
The ratings in the most important demographic are going down, down, down. Many people are just quietly walking away, not voicing disdain, just leaving. I see more and more people (lots on that blind item post about breaking up) who say, "I used to watch Castle".
DeleteCastle is becoming more and more the show that people used to watch. I still watch, but I miss many of the eps. Hadn't missed a single one until this season. Missing now because it's infuriating that they're STILL keeping the couple apart. Maybe technically they're together, but they aren't a couple.
I didn't watch Always at first, because I thought, oh, yeah, right, it's just another freaking tease. I'm done with this show. Then it wasn't a tease. It was decent. And now this season has pretty much been just another freaking tease ever since.
Castle is on its way out. Good riddance to another mediocre but once entertaining TV show. Sorry

I've started to lower my expectations considerably if im honest I was even a bit disappointed by Recoil it just had something "missing" my gave episodes so far have been After the storm, Secrets safe with me, murder she wrote and Probable cause all early episodes. I also enjoyed the two episodes just before Xmas but can't really say I've been massively impressed by anything since Xmas... Probably had too high expectations for Recoil .keeping my fingers crossed it picks up again!

I think that Castle writers have done a terrific job so far this year and I for one didn't expect tons of "couple-ness" - I'm actually pleased with the amount that we have gotten to date....what I do find missing though is the sharpness of some of the writing - there are writers who have been with the show for years and seem to still have this ability but others seem to be missing it - Castle and Beckett can still be sexy and fun with looks, situations, etc. Nothing wrong with using our imaginations a bit. Besides, if each show is approached only for its Caskett moments then one will miss some of the really good nuanced performances.

And for all of you who say you can't tell they are in a relationship are just plain dumb. It's so obvious. The way they interact the way they touch and look at each other. It's in everything. This is a great clean family show. It's brilliantly written and the acting is superb. It's a show I greatly enjoy. So shut up about I hope it gets nixed. I don't want it to be. It's my favorite show. If you don't like it don't then just don't watch it. There a lots that do.
Marlowe never said "ok jn every scene you are going to have sex and make out all the time" get real I would get sick of that. And if he did give you that you would expect more and more and more and then the show would be off the air because it was innapropriate. Really is that what you want???
I mean unless your telling me in your relationship with your boyfriend/girls friend that you have sec every walking moment of every day then no one would believe you are in a relationship. I really respect how Marlowe has written their relationship. He had based it on his wife. So in a sense you are insulting his relationship. What has happened to all of your common sense.
I really love this show and I'm not saying you have to or do but please stop saying rude things. This is a fan site not a "bash castle" site. Stop saying it should go off air. If you don't want to watch it don't. There are millions that do. Most of us have enough sense to know what is respectable. The relationship is obvious. If you can't see it I don't know why. You were able to see the subtleties before they were one. But now that they are together you act as if they aren't. If really like to see what all of you professionals would write and I'd live to see your ratings.
So please stop saying Rudd things. I don't want the show canceled. I love it. It's my favorite show. I think it will be renewed. It's a great show. Just stop bashing it.

I concur Amber. I don't know what's wrong with the "fans" who do nothing but bash the show all because they want to see hugskissestouchingsex in every episode. Then they claim they don't need to see it after every episode, yet when.we do get hugskissestoichingsex they STILL complain.

If anyone watched Recoil and couldn't see how much of a couple Caskett are and how far they've come and grown as individuals and as a couple, then I think it's time to change the.channel.
Since we're getting a 5th Nikki Heat Book in September and an extra episode this season, I think it's safe to say Castle will get a 6th seasons and those fervent and loud and mostly unnecessary complaints about hugskissestouchingsex don't matter in the end. I am so glad that ABC isn't taking these shippers too serious. They have limitation for their tv shows and Castle has never been Grey's or Scandal. It has been mostly rated PG in the physicality from the beginning. I don't know what made these crazy shippers think all of a sudden Castle would become True Blood. Lol!
I just want to say that I'm anonymous 10:43 in response to Amber. I don't want the show to get axed, I agree we don't need them jumping into bed every episode however a few more hugs, kisses and lovely scenes like the handshake and stick man scene in secrets safe with me are what I'm looking for personally... Also some more interesting cases about guest characters where you actually care about the victim, family or even the murderer would be brilliant and less "reality star" murders.. I just feel we have more weak episodes this season than previously and probably less Caskett moments than especially in say season 3. Trying not to get my hopes up for next week but will try and stay at least a bit positive :o)
ReplyDeleteI don't believe for a second that once the main characters are together it's the end of the show. I don't believe in the Moonlighting curse crap, not with Caskett. It's the opposite with them, it's what I've been trying to say. I will watch and rewatch the show all day now that they are together, but the writers don't seem to want to SHOW them being together, it's like they're afraid to. And I will keep being glued to my screen watching the show, if they keep strengthening their relationship, WITHOUT breaking them up. That damn blind item being Caskett is the only thing that will me tuning the show out. The uncertainty of a possible break up is the thing dampening everything for me. It's why I don't want to get too excited. But if the writers don't use that tired plot point in the name of "creative" reasons, have them fight, banter, hash it all out, I don't care. But actual relationships don't automatically break up at the first sign of trouble. Give Caskett all the tests you want, all the friction you want, but do it organically, strengthen their relationship and let it grow, and I'm there watching until the end.

At least we are still making some fun of the situation and we are still in the category of fans who can still be swayed "to be happy and content" with the show. Be worry (or maybe not) if we are already in "we don't care" phase. By that time, we will no longer bother to write anything about the show because we are no longer watching.

I see the nuances of the Caskett relationship in every episode, for example the way Kate touched Rick's hand before he left her to read the letters in the last episode. I actually can't wait until 10pm at night. And that hour goes by so fast. I can't wait to see what's to come. I have a good feeling of a renewal. I don't think we would get more episodes if the show wasn't doing well.

DeleteA lot of the commenters want to see a kiss, or some intimacy, or some passion between the two leads. While you have the right to be satisfied, they have the right to be left wanting. You singlehandedly insulted all of them for having THEIR opinions, so I don't know why you are so surprised when you get insulted back.
The thread was a pleasant read until you hurled unfounded insults at people commenting here (which you continued to do in your response to me, by the way). If you don't like reading negativity because it upsets you, perhaps you should stop, you know, reading it.

Who said that those who being sarcastic (and in the "sarcastic phase" here are already in the "we don't care" phase? You need to read up first on the what was preciously said here before you comment.

ReplyDeleteI understand some of your disappointment. I can see the relationship developing and I see the love they feel. My favorite part of recoil was when castle just knocks and walks in. It doesn't matter to me if has a key or not he walked in and she didn't mind. That us relationship growth. I also loved the end when they were at her house. Yeah they weren't hat close together, then again Kate was in a place in her mind where her mothers killer is out there a free man and she can't touch him yet. My point is he was there and he wasn't leaving. They are together a lot. It's obvious. Neither of them are complaining to their friends I'm not getting enough love or affection. Which tells me they are getting a lot.
I'm looking forward to this episode cause its actually about valentines day. And I will enjoy every minute of it. I'm not looking for sex or anything. I'm just looking for the chemistry and I always get it when I watch it.
So I'm looking forward to this episode, a renewal soon and that new episode that they added. I'm happy what can I say.
Can't wait for Monday!!!!

Thanks for that nice analysis, I was hoping someone would talk about that and I agree with you. I heard that in Britian they have signed up for a CAStle S. 5 and 6.......not that there is an official announcement yet, but, they are prepared to take it on if it comes, so that with the extra ep to make 24 gives me excited hope!!!!
DeleteWe were having fun in sarcastic way on the Caskett situation until all those "all too happy and content" fans came again asserting their "contentment and happiness" of the show upon us. Why do they need to make everybody agree with them? The show will be renewed for the 6th season, why are they all so worried and going after those having sarcastic fun?

DeleteI don'get it why the you blame the fans who are dissapointed.Go and blame AM he was the one who said people fall into bed all the time ,he was the one who said it is time to show the other side,he was the one who said he is proud to have such invested fans and he wants that they root more for the couple.Stana said this will be a season about sex and love and its getting naughty.They were the one who make it public that they build a bedroom and a bathroom in Kate's apartment why do you think they did this.They all wanted that the fans go nuts and think that alot relationship stuff happen with lovescences and kissing and now are the fans ungratefull and should watch porn because they are disappointed.In my opinion the writers don't know what to do with them as a couple and thats why I am convinced they are the blind item and they break them up because the writers think that is more creative.

ReplyDeleteOk nobody is being childish or wanting porn...for gods sake. Since when did kissing and hugging and cuddling become porn? Wow, I guess that makes me a porn star every night since thats what I do when my husband gets back from work.
But as others have pointed out, a little more togetherness is a great welcome. They could just discuss a case in bed, you know pillow talk...no need to kiss or anything but show us that they are in fact a normal couple doing normal couple things. Anyway those are just my thougts.
The irony Its NOT getting them together that has people dumping the show, its the lack of them being together thats caused it. People invested 4 yeasr, so yes they want more. I woudnlt call them ungrateful for that. And I doubt AM would call them ungrateful either. The show made it this far thanks to hardcore shippers, and Im sure AM knows that. As I can see none of the post pertaining to caskett is wanting porn or anything of the sort. Just more intimacy, which is not porn. Hugging is intimate. Holding hands is intimate.
I still love it and watch it, but I know of many friends who dont watch as much as they used to, which is sad becasue its still really good. But hey theres always room for improvement. If only that happened though...
I too am not expecting any kind on intimacy in this episode. Pretty sure the S rating is for the case, but who knows...I may be wrong. Just hope its at least entertaining and funny.
