    1. I am not either, but, I am hoping I will be surprised. However, don't want to get disappointed by getting too excited.

  5. I find it funny not many are that excited about this episode. I for one am really excited. I'm excited because castle is on tonight. My favorite day of the week.

It's possible that others aren't that excited because we hardly got any spoilers for this episode. I prefer it that say personally. The less I know the more I am intrigued to watch it. I just hope all of you watch because it needs the live views.

Again in extremely excited to watch this episode as I am all episodes. I just have to wait 5 1/2 hours. That is like forever.

    Have fun watching. Caskett forever!!!!

  7. oh, i always watch live even if i can't stand to wait and watch earlier too. and then i watch about 3 more times on ABC website - so i def. support it!!! i am trying not to get my hopes up about any caskett moments, but, yes, i am happy it's Castle Monday!!!!! What a nice gift!!!!

  8. I just watched it.

Those who love Esposito will love it...

Those who love Caskett won't...if the only thing they care about is relationship between the two...

    2. Well it is called castle and not caskett so I'm looking forward to it.

I'm just excited cause its on. Is this actual episode good? Did you like it?

      Can't wait.

    3. Yes, I liked it and it's based just on Esposito and a kid.

We don't see Kate & Rick very much and the case is good, IMO.
But there's no Caskett moment at all.

  9. ok...good episode...

  10. It was a good ep, but, to be honest, I will watch it tonight for ratings, but, prob. wont' ever watch it again. I love espo, but, love Caskett even more. It was good though, like they said - if you don't care about Caskett. The most we got was one line in the beg. about them.

    ReplyDelete
  11. It was all esposito ep just one little caskett moment in the beg and that is it, all in all just a filler ep but you people watch it LIVE for the rating either way pls....

    ReplyDelete
  12. dud. the whole ep was a dud.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Espo is a corrupt cop? He'd kill someone basically in cold blood and set it up as self defense? I understand the whole 'tough guy' thing they're going for, but maybe that's a bit over the top. Granted, it's a TV show and we're supposed to overlook stuff like that because we 'know the characters' and how good they are. But still. Surprised me.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Cops bluff like that in real life all the time. They're allowed to do that - as long as they don't actually follow through. That cop guy that writes a blog about Castle's procedural errors had no problem with it.

      Delete
  14. This was a filler ep, but good for Espo somewhere Jon Huertas is sitting down and happy as can be. In the mean time looking forward to the ongoing continuation stories and the 2 parter, castles dad and Alexis and Marthas story line should be good.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Good ep. It good to see them fill out the other characters. Jon did a great job.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Eh. Don't have much to say about this one. Glad the other characters are getting some of their back stories filled in too, but I can't say I found tonight to be very energetic or interesting.

The case nor the victim wasn't enough to have me care too much, and that unfortunately translated to the focal point, which was Espo and the kid.

Some fun moments with movies/Valentine's Day in the beginning, which I can only think is also a hint to keep fans frothing about that particular upcoming ep, some fun stuff with Ryan as a fan-boy, and a nice moment with Javi and Castle talking about kids and really just them "needing to find their way."

Wasn't so keen to have Javi hop onto the bandwagon of threatening folks, after Beckett had also done so in the premiere.

His backstory is nice to have, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it disappointingly predictable, more on the family side than the juvie-record side of things.

So. Not a fave ep, not a particularly memorable one. Fun. Easy come easy go.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Correct me if Im wrong but isnt this show called Castle? and because the premises of the show is that Castle follows Beckett, by extention the show is about Beckett. And how much of Castle and Bcekett did we see? Waste of time to me. Sorry, I love Espo, but I didnt like his character progression and I love the supporting cast becasue they are just that...supporting. I didnt find the episode the least bit entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't think it was a bad episode but it wasn't up there with the great episodes either. Let's face it, most of us watch it for Caskett and when we don't get much of them, we're not going to be thrilled about it. What's frustrating me more is that now that they are together all we get is interrupted scenes between the two when they are shown. It's frustratingly fun to a certain point but when it happens EVERY. Single. Time, it just becomes predictable and boring. We are practically half way through the season, things better pick before the final 2 eps.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh god, I cant believe I sat through that. I thought that was dreadful. Yes I watch for Castle and Beckett, and I enjoy the secondary characters, but this was wayyyyy to much Espo for me.

    ReplyDelete
  20. What the hell kind of episode was that. I hardly saw our dynamic duo. Well at least they have movie nights! Bad episode. Not my thing. And next weeks looks uninteresting too. I thought the one with Espo liking some bodyguard was this ep, so next weeks is Espo centric again....what the hell? I wont skip the entire season, but I will not bother with these types of non castle and beckett related eps, or non regular eps. Glad some of you enjoyed it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I wasnt bored as much as I was annoyed. We waited 4 damn years to see caskett in a relationship, and now we hardly get any intimacy with the exception of 2 or 3 eps. And to add salt to injury, they give us more supporting characters instead of what most of us actually want to see. We always want more caskett, and this week, we not only didnt get any caskett, we didnt even get castle and beckett individually. Sorry to be rude, but Im really not interested in exploring Espos dark past blah blah blah. They are supporting cast for a reason, they support the main leads, which are Castle and Beckett. I know this sounds rude but its a fact.

  22. I liked the episode. Yeah it wasn't based on caskett. I watch it for caskett as much as I watch it for the murder, comedy, romance, and mystery. I knew ahead of time that it was based on Javier and he deserves some limelite too.

I enjoyed the subtle looks between the two lovers and the talk about the movie. I enjoy the show as a whole.

I'm happy that most of you tried to watch it and kept good ratings. In order for you to get the good sexy smoking episodes of romance we have to go with the others characters too. So I'm happy espo got some background on him.

I'm hoping most of you will watch next week I know I will. I want the show to continue and I support it. Please stand with me.

Again I liked the episode. Yeah it was about Javier but I still liked it. I will continue watching. Hope you will too.

    Caskett forever!!!!!

    2. I just believe that all characters deserve a back story. They deserve to show why they are there. This episode was perfect for Javier. So I'm happy for him. He got a shot to give a kid a fair chance and tried to protect him.

I do love caskett and can't wait to see more. They are adorable together. Just when they walked into the precinct together I was happy. I know they are hot behind the scenes. I know we will get more scenes.

I'm happy with the show I'm watching and will continue watching. I'm a fan and always will be.

If your a fan you will also. I will do my part and try to keep the show on air.

And I must say when Ryan wears anything blue and his eyes stand out I just fall in love. I was already in love with him. He is so handsome.

Anyway I love the show and caskett.

      Caskett forever.

  23. Just wanna say that although that was probably one of the worst episodes for me, and I lost interest in it fast...I watched anyway for ratings. So I hope Marlowe rewards fans like me, with lots and lots of lovely caskett...becasue Im pretty certain lots of others just watched for ratings too, at least thats the impression I get here.

  24. I loved the episode. It was a typical Castle epi - straight forward, solid case, some funny lines thrown in... I know, it wasn't one of THE awesome memorable ones, that's true, BUT don't forget this show is not just about Caskett.

I like that we get sometimes episodes where there's a little backstory on the other team members, it would be boring if they were just some supporting characters with no real substance or story - they would be interchangeable then, like if one of them dies in an epi it wouldn't be such a big deal cause the audience didn't care about them that much anyway...
So I LOVE that we get some little tid bits about Espo or Ryan once in a while. Keeps things interesting. Did I wish there would have been one more Caskett moment? Of course, I always wish for them lol, I'm a HUGE Caskett shipper after all!!! Was I extremely disappointed we didn't get one? No, because it was a solid epi with character development (just not Caskett, but hey, let's have the others shine once in a while as well!); plus not EVERY epi can be one of the more outstanding onces. There have to be also some which are commonly known as "filler eps" like "Heartbreak Hotel" was last season. BUT they are only considered filler eps if you're just waiting for Caskett stuff because really, that's what I like about this show - if Caskett isn't the focal point, they always delve into another character, flash him/her out a bit. This time it was Espo, last season in Heartbreak Hotel we got a long-ish scene with Alexis, depicting her as the normal teenager she probably is.

So yeah, I loved the epi, it was a good one. On a scale from 1-10 I'd give it maybe an 8. And guys, let's face it - season 5 so far is OUTSTANDING and AWESOME!!! Best season so far, since it combines the fun and banter from the earlier seasons with the deeper character development of season 3 and especially 4. So I'm ok with getting an epi without any "real" Caskett moment. I just love this show, so I'm looking forward to EVERY episode. It's just such a fun ride!!! Yay for Castle!!!!

I agree with everything you said. I loved it and the whole episode.

I'm a castle caskett fan forever. Can't wait until next week. It looks like it will be funny.

  26. This ep helps me realize what I missed most since season two -- a good case! I remember watching through most episodes from season two and get chills everytime there is a reveal or a twist in the case! The best example that is on the top of my head ATM is the vampire weekend ep when they found out the drawing was actually a real event and that the kid witnessed the murder of his mother. Season three's cases weren't that standout, but we got much more focus on what was going between Caskett that made me still love that season. First season, love it for the cases and character developments.

This ep, it wasn't particularly interesting in the case department. Caskett progression was barely there--there were small hints. Too much of Espo. Ive said this before-- I like him when he's in small doses. This ep basically did not hold my interest. It all seems like a motion to sit through. You can say we got some backstory, but he's a supporting character. I would hope somehow this knowledge of his backstory will eventuall be revelant to our two main characters (ie. in kill shot when Espo helped Beckett with his experience in the military).

  27. By this hour, I have usually watched the episode probably 3x---I haven't rewatched it yet. I LOVE Castle and appreciate the character development but I don't think it needed to dominate the episode as much as it did. One small 2-minute Caskett scene would have helped tremendously--imo. With the exception of the movie talk between C&B in the opening scene, you could have picked this episode up and placed it in any of the previous 4 seasons. There were no indications of Caskett other than the few words exchanged in that one scene. I miss the flirty banter that was absent in this episode.

I feel bad, b/c I do love espo and want Jon to shine, but, they still could slip in Caskett or tie into last weeks heavy ending..........I was really disappointed even tho I am a HUGE fan adn will always be, but, a little sad after it ended I got nothing I wanted........:(

  28. Ok so I just watched it. Hhmmm, well it was ok, but it didnt hold my interest.

My favourite scene was the beginning, love how Kate hits Espos head, very cute. Also Stana's hair and outfits were gorgeous. That blue looks good on her, and her up was so sweet, loved it.

Ok the storyline was not bad, but I will admit, I watch for castle and Beckett, i mean they are the engine of the show, so it wasnt that good to me. But I get Marlowe trying to give the secondary characters more to do, but maybe a more balanced ratio wouldnt have generated that many complaints. The show has always been 70% Castle and Beckett and 30% the supporting cast. This episode was 70% Espo and 30 % Castle and Beckett...I think had Marlowe done a 50-50 split, the episode would have been more positively accepted.

Castle and Beckett are th heart of the show, they always will be, so if Marlowe wants to do Espo centric or Ryan centric eps, thats fine, so as long as Caskett is still a focal point.

OR, Marlowe could have just had a 2 minute hot make out session between Caskett and the remaining 40 minutes on Espo and the fandom would have absolutely loved this episode...lol...Im sure we wont hear complaints.

I think the key thing to take note is striking a balance. Since this ep focused on Espo, then the writers should have thrown in some small sweet gestures between caskett...him making her coffee, them planning a dinner date or them having some cute conversation, or giving each other some loving looks. That small bit in the beggining was cute, but it didnt hold the episode up till the end. A few more spurts of those scenes would have made a huge differnece.

Anyway overall it was not that bad, but Im looking forward to getting back the regular castle episodes, and of course the valentines one.

    Cheers from Malaysia!

    1. I get your point very well. But the lack of caskett scene didn't bother me at all here. The few moments were enough for me as i'm still giddy about last week ep. It was a nice espo-centric and classic procedural episode, without any pressure.
Besides, i'd rather have no caskett scene at all than 2 minutes of make out session out of nowhere just to make fans happy. Everything has to be well thought. I would have love a cute scene but i'm happy with everything we have had already and looking foward to what's coming (Valentine's Day folks !)

    3. You wrote exactly how I felt and thought 3:39am! In fact, you usually do, but, you really nailed my feelings this one - to make the fans happy, just give us a little more Caskett and we can handle the Espo. We want to support him, but, we come for Caskett!

  32. Good lord, really people? This isn't Days Of Our Lives, it's a crime dramedy. Not everything needs to be - or should be - about Caskett.

If it was all Caskett, all the time, I'd not be watching anymore. The whole package is why I watch, and that includes the supporting cast and the cases.

It's one of the things that's irritated me about Bones, actually. It often becomes too much about the relationship, and not about the work.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Although the ep was well written and the case was relatively solid, I felt that the ep was just OK. It just didn't hold my interest for the hour. Just not enough Caskett. Although I like the Espo character, I only like him about 15% as much as I like the Caskett duo. Don't get me wrong, I think Jon Huertas did a great job but the show is called Castle not Espo.

I'm looking forward to getting back to regular, Caskett-centric episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't think people should feel gypped from the lack of Caskett moments because there were some small ones if you payed attention close enough. The silly banter at the beginning of course, and it was one of the first times we have seen him bring her coffee this season, the way she smiled at him when he found Shane Winter's name again, the way she looked at him when he talked about Alexis, and the way he looked for her when he was running out of steam on his theory, needing her to fill in the blanks because their partners. Sometimes sweet and subtle is nice too. Besides, Espo is a great, funny guy. I like him and to learn his background is interesting and certainly entertaining. I know fanfic writers are soaking up his background info like sponges as fodder for their stories when getting a sense for the characters. Espo is a lonely guy and I think getting to know his character more and understand why is great. And it just means that next week will be full of big Caskett moments:)

  35. First of I would like to say that people are allowed to have opinions. I respect other peoples opinions. Now I am going to put forward my opinion and hope people respect mine. 70% of this fandom need a bloody good kick in the pants. From scrolling down the page majority of the comments here summarize - this wasn't caskett-centric therefore it was bad and I am only interested in the show because it is the Castle and Beckett Kissing Show. This was a solid ep. Saying it would have "slotted in nicely" in any season EXCEPT season 5 is an unfair call. What the other characters don't exist now because of Caskett? The supporting cast help make this show what it is. As a fanfiction writer I love seeing what makes the other characters tick, otherwise they have no personality. Out of 23 episodes a season not all 23 need to be Caskett. Let the others shine. I didn't realise until I watched this how much I've missed the Espo and Ryan duo. They work so well together. Episodes like these help form these characters so that we understand their actions later. For example; in S4 Kill Shot and 3XK which had a lot of Espo and Ryan respectively helped form them for the finale and the S5 premiere where it was an ensemble cast ep. We know so much about Castle and so much about Beckett I for one do want to know about the others, Kevin, Lanie, Martha, Alexis, hell even Gates. I am a Caskett shipper but honestly the focus of the ENTIRE show should not be about their relationship. Castle won the peoples choice award for BEST CRIME DRAMA. Let me repeat that once more for those of you who missed it BEST CRIME DRAMA - not the best show for the two leads making googoo eyes for 60mins every week. On that note Castle and Beckett shared some lovely looks this week which the Casketeers should have noticed if they wernt too busy sulking. Beckett was looking absolutely gorgeous too with that blue top and scarf ensemble and then the black silk shirt with the lace. Wooh, the wardrobe dpt needs a big pat on the back. This was a solid ep. Sure the case was a bit all over the show but I thought the whole point was for the audience to not figure it out after 10mins. Not one person would be complaining if this was Season 1 or 2 back when we all enjoyed it for what it was and not this Caskett obsessed monster its becoming. These types of Episodes make this show what it is, they are what got it to 5 seasons, saying we are not allowed to have character focus on anyone but the two leads is the biggest load of bull I think I've ever heard. I congratulate the 30% of fans left who appreciate the ENTIRE show as a WHOLE at least you guys can appreciate proper storytelling.

    1. AMEN! So very well said. I could not agree more. I find it difficult to read when people criticize only because when they were not together people complained and now that they are together, they still complain. This show is a crime drama based on Castle, YES, but if you do not develop backstory and you jump the shark and marry them and have them have kids in one season the show would be done for. I find Andrew Marlowe's writing to be excellent (along with his staff) and I like how they switch it up. If they continue to slowly progress the Caskett storyline the show will have a few more seasons left in it and I for one am all for that.

    2. I really like how you phrased this. I thought that overall the episode was nicely done. Yes, I would have liked a few more cute Caskett moments, but learning about Espo was great! It was wonderful to see his back story and his reactions to Joey. This fandom is very quick to hate on episodes and I think those negative opinions really put the rest of the fans in a bad mood. I wish that people would calm down, but I highly doubt that will happen. Especially if we don't get Kate's ILY by the end of the season and if that happens I will be a little frustrated too.

      Delete
    3. Did you also read how we support Espo - but would have liked a few Caskett moments slipped in. Cheers from Malaysia said it perfectly. I am fan through and through, and hate all the 'hate', but, this too me, is not just 'hate', but, just feelings of disappointment and loss of our favorite characters.......

      Delete
    4. Amen to That ! Look at NCIS, guys. Even look at Bones. They have strong characters. A good show need all of its characters to have a good backstory and to be there for more than a good comic relief.
This episode was great, a great way to show new thing about Esposito.
Castle and Beckett weren't there ? They were. We saw them being so confortable with their relationship that they discuss their littl cute disagreement in front of Esposito. Heck, Castle even asked Espo to give them is opinion.
I loved the episode, because they took the time to write a good story for Esposito and to tell it well.
Never forget that an episode is only 1 hour (42 minutes without the breaks). In 42 minutes you can't tell so much stories. I'd rather have one well written like in this episode than Esposito story and Caskett story and the two of them fell flat.
Also, as much as I'd love Caskett and watch them get a little more physical, I need meaning behind it. If I wanted to watch a gratuitus sex scene I'd watch a show on Showtime or HBO.
As I don't remember who said it earlier, I would be more angry than satisfied if I have a 2 minutes make out session and then ask myself "Ok it was cool, but Why this scene. What it's telling us ? Oh it tell us nothing, it's just to show them making out ? Not Interested !

  36. This episode was wonderfully written and Jon Huertas did a fabulous job but it still was one of my least favorite episodes. I think that a supporting characters role should be that of adding dimension to the main character. Whether they develop their own story lines or complexities,as attempted in this episode, it should still be in relation to the main character. This episode focused exclusively on Espo and did not enrich or provide any further insight the Castle character. The show is about Castle; his interests, hangups, friendships and relationships, etc. and how these concepts shape/change the character. Is Marlowe is planning on a Espo/Ryan spinoff? Seems like it to me.

    1. I agree that supporting characters' stories should either add dimensions, as you pointed out, or at least interact with the main characters when delving into backstories. I liked the brief moment when Espo was talking with Castle & Beckett in the breakroom about kids choosing their own paths. It was a nice insight into Castle's parenting. More of that kind of balance would have made this episode great for me. As it was, I still thought it was solid and enjoyable, but yes, not one of my favorites.

How did you all manage in Season 1 and 2? 39. Ok, guys!
the Kate's look at the end of ep10 told us that Marlowe will now take time with the relationship between Caskett. There's so much to find out and it will be very long and that's a good thing!!!

So now, there's gonna be place for each character to open heart & mind, I will say.
Here, with Esposito, it was, IMO, a quite interesting approach, kind and badass, with a good Ryan too.

As we know now, there's gonna be an ep for Martha & Alexis, one for Ryan, one for Lanie.....and what about Gates? BTW, where is she?

I just think that there will be many others scenes with Kate & Rick about love, life and so on...Just be patient! 80 eps without...and just 11 with!! Don't forget that it's a Tv show with murder cases.

At last, I do believe Marlowe doen't even know, today, what he's exactly gonna do with Castle's father, 3XK, maybe Johanna's case end ...... And, I think he knows that, one day, he will have to get Caskett a little hotter with more sexual tension...if not, it will be hard to keep them together with just dark kisses, very short and often interrupted!!

  40. solid episode, good to see development for other character other than caskett. on the other hand, the plot was old as the book, feeling like it was a bit of a filler, but still enjoyable. huertas did an amazing job, I wished that the episode in last season about ryan and "3xk" (tunerd out it was some chinese mafia or something) had been like this one.

and yes, lack of caskett moments bla bla bla. a ton of "fans" can't seem to enjoy the show anymore because of lack of caskett? FOOLS. I was actually glad to be away from caskett drama for a episode. insecure beckett and whipped castle needed a much deserved break and so did I.

next episode seems fun and light, away from relationship drama again, and I am GLAD for that.

    1. Everytime the same ... people are bashing people bc of different points of view.
Maybe there are people who dont enjoy the show without a caskett moment .... and ? nothing is really wrong with that! You insult people (FOOLS) bc they prefer the relationship. So what? The only thing that is wrong with that is the disrespect you spread out.
There are people they dont want the relationship ... ok. There are people they want just a good crime case ... ok. There are people they want a support character developement ... ok. There are people they want Caskett only ... ok. And there are people they want all in all, and again ... ok.
Praise and criticsm (BOTH) evolve a show. There are people they think the writers could change something ... ok ... why be quiet when you are displeased. Nothing wrong with that. If you like the season so far with all components, fine ... no fantastic. Nothing wrong with that either. There are people (a minority) they will never be happy wherever the show goes ... ok. Hard luck! Everybody can announce a opinion. But bashing people bc of wanting more of something is not polite. If we take the Caskett romance - why do you think people (who love Caskett) would not understand, that the creator and writers cant show every minute Caskett ... they do ... and thats not what they are asking for. Their comments dont contain - we want only Caskett! - the comments contain - we want more!- Thats a difference. Its easy to take only the words (from other people) from a sentence only to put them into a phrase of my own, no matter the meaning of comments before gets lost.

    2. yes, good job 10:11am. There is something for everyone in every show and you can't please everyone in every show either, but, there is a nice well rounded balance and I wish people would look at that and the BIG picture. I always want more Caskett, but,I can step back and appreciate it all as well.........

  41. Yayyyyyy, a show without cringeworthy "Caskett" moments. Marlow et al. have written Caskett as part stupid teenagers, part frumpy grandma-grandpa, hardly any grown-up relationship at all, and I'm glad to get a week without it. Other people were too. This week the ratings improved a tad.

Speaking of ratings, unless you're a Nielson family, your watching the show real time makes absolutely no difference to ratings. So if you're not enjoying an episode, feel free to turn it off.

    1. you are wrong about ratings. they look at that now and dvr in the first 3 days and abc player on line - so watch and watch and re-watch.
you are also wrong about the other comment, but it's not worthy of a comment.

    2. Blimey, there are anti shippers out there after all. For a while there I thought I'd found a fandom completely devoid of them.
Good to see there's balance in the force after all. ;-)

  42. This is not a review, only my opinion based on what I love about the show. Castle & Beckett are my main focus (not just caskett but as individuals). So any episode that "neglect" them in my eyes is just a little bit of a let down for me.
I can still enjoy an ep like last night but it's not the treat I am looking forward to every week.
